If you would like the computer to stop automatically connecting to a wireless network then you need to follow these steps:
Windows XP
- Double click on the Wireless Network Connection icon in the bottom right corner (near clock)
- Click on Change the order of preferred networks
- Under Preferred Networks, select the network eg SCU Wireless
- Click on the Properties button
- Click on the Connections Tab
- Un-tick the box, Connect when this network is in range
- Click on the OK button
- Click on the OK button
Windows Vista
- Click on the Wireless Network Connection icon in the bottom right corner (near clock)
- Click on Network and Sharing Center
- Click Manage Network Connections under Tasks
- Right Click Wireless Network Connection
- Select Properties
- Click the Wireless Networks Tab
- Select the wireless network eg SCU Wireless
- Click Properties
- Click on the Connections Tab
- Un-tick the box, Connect when this network is in range
- Click on the OK button
- Click on the OK button
Windows 7
- Click on the Wireless Network Connection icon in the bottom right corner (near clock)
- Click on Network and Sharing Center
- Click Manage Wireless Networks left menu
- Select the wireless network eg SCU Wireless
- Right Click the network
- Click Properties
- Click on the Connections Tab
- Un-tick the box, Connect automatically when this network is in range
- Click on the OK button
- Click on the OK button
