Printing
Printing facilities are available at all labs. All print trays are
loaded prior to the Help Desk Staff leaving in the evening. This should
be sufficient paper for ALL printing needs until the Computer Lab Support
Desk is re-opened in the morning.
The Print Cost Recovery
System has been implemented to recover the escalating cost and ease the
environmental impact of uncontrolled, and at times wasteful, printing
in the CHEC Computer Labs, by charging the end user of the system. It
involves the payment for printing, colour printing and photocopying.
Print Cost Recovery Information Brochure is located in the Help Desk
foyer.
There is also a printing tips sheet that provides some good help on how
to save on printing costs is also available in the Help Desk foyer.
Foot Rests
These are available from the Help Desk for student comfort
and health. Currently there are three adjustable footrests that can be
utilised while in the computer labs. To borrow one the student needs to
visit the CHEC Help Desk (A.G.11) with a student card.
Books
CHECiT
have purchased three reference books to assist you in using Microsoft
Office whilst using our labs.
These books
aren't to be taken out of the computer lab area (A Block). To borrow one
of these books, all you need to do is visit the CHEC Help Desk (A.G.11),
show your student card and your details will be recorded in a borrowing
register.
Bookings
You can book a lab by contacting the Room Bookings staff in Administration
(A1 Block) on 02 66593093 or email chec.roombook@tafensw.edu.au. CHECiT
isn’t responsible for the process of booking computer labs. . Permanent
bookings can be made for any length of time, to ensure there are labs
available book early in the semester.
Software
Software
that is installed on the computers in the CHEC Computer Labs is created
as a hard disk “image”. That is the software is basically
the same on all computers except for a few drivers for different hardware
in the labs. The main software is Windows XP SP2 with Microsoft Office
2003 and Mac OS 10.4.8 with Mac Office 2004.
Software
is only to be installed by the CHECiT staff.

here to see a complete listing of the software installed in the CHEC Computer
